The Short Stay Unit (SSU) is a specialized unit providing care for nearly 8,000 patients a year.
SSU is staffed with critical care trained nurses specialized in caring for a variety of outpatients.
The procedures occurring in this unit include:
- Surgical patients whose recovery time may exceed 4 hours but less than 24 hours
- Patients arriving for a surgical procedure with the plan to stay in the hospital after the procedure
- Patients having a radiological invasive procedures requiring observation afterward
- Outpatient cardiac catheterization patients come to the short stay prior to the procedure for preparation and back to the unit for discharge unless admitted to the hospital
- Some short procedures not requiring an operating room may be done on this unit
- Infusions and transfusions may also be done on this unit.
As with all of JRMC patient care units, patient safety takes precedence.
The SSU focuses on accurate patient identification and preventing infections.
The Short Stay Unit will provide superior patient care from our compassionate,
