Apprise Program
Free Help with Insurance Paperwork. Confused by your medical bills and insurance options? You're not alone. We've teamed up with the Allegheny County Department on Aging to offer free health insurance counseling to people 60 years and older through the Apprise program. Apprise counselors are thoroughly trained volunteers — not insurance salespeople. They can help you with your questions about Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance policies. They provide information that's easy to understand, help you fill out insurance forms, refer clients to appropriate government agencies — and show you how to protect yourself against fraud and abuse.

Private counseling sessions take place at a mutually agreeable time. Call us at (412) 469-7099 for more information.

Lifeline Emergency Response System
Lifeline is an emergency response system that, with an automated telephone connection, links you to a central dispatcher that can immediately respond to the caller's needs. You just activate a medallion worn around your neck or wrist. To learn more or subscribe, call us at (412) 469-7099.

55 Alive Driving Refresher Course
This popular driving refresher course is held on an ongoing basis at Jefferson Hospital. Designed for drivers age 50 years and older, the two-day in-class instruction entitles graduates to up to a 10 percent discount under many insurance plans. Check with your agent for details about your coverage.

Preregistration is required. An $10 fee covers both days. The 55 Alive program is co-sponsored by Jefferson Regional Medical Center and AARP. Call us at (412) 469-7099 to register.

Living Will and Advance Directive Planning
Our trained volunteers will meet with you to answer your questions about living wills and advance directives. They can help you draft an advance directive at no charge. To schedule an appointment, call us at (412) 469-7099.

Tax Counseling: Free Help with Tax Questions
Thanks to our volunteer community partners, AARP, and the IRS, we offer free tax assistance to individuals age 60 and older who are on a limited income. Appointments can be scheduled on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday (January - April) at the Senior Services Office. For more information, call us at (412) 469-7099.

Exercise Classes
We offer regular sessions in yoga, aerobics, and stretch-and-tone. Call (412) 469-7099.
