Cardiovascular Unit

Our 10-bed Cardiovascular Unit (CVU) is specially designed for the expert, personalized care of those undergoing cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgery. The CVU staff – highly-trained and dedicated to meeting the complex and specific needs of our patients – is a collaborative team of cardiac healthcare professionals: nurses, physician assistants, perfusionists, respiratory therapists, rehabilitation specialists, and consulting physicians working to restore our patients to health and wellness.

From comprehensive pre-and post-operative education, through to discharge, our goal is to promote our patients’ return to a full and active life.

We take pride in our work – and it shows through the voices of our patients.

In recent patient satisfaction scores for Jefferson Regional’s Cardiovascular Unit compiled by Press Ganey™ – a recognized leader in healthcare performance rating, our CVU consistently ranks in the upper 90th percentiles for overall cardiovascular care, friendliness and courtesy of staff; attention to personal needs; communication with families; and sensitivity/response to pain.

Progressive Coronary Care Unit

The Progressive Coronary Care Unit is a 28-bed telemetry-monitoring unit designed to continue the recovery from cardiac surgery, cardiac interventions and other cardiac procedures. Patients recovering from a cardiac event participate in a cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program. Recovery continues once a patient is sent home; educational classes are available which prepare the patient and family members for their loved one’s return. Our discharge planning staff will work with the patient, the patient’s family, and the medical team to ensure the patient has what they need to continue their recovery at home. Family members are encouraged to actively participate in ensuring the patient’s complete return to wellness and daily activity.
