Multiple Sclerosis is a disease that affects the central nervous system, causing numbness, weakness, or paralysis in one or more limbs. It can also be associated with impaired vision, lack of coordination, or unsteady gait. Episodes may last for weeks or months then go into remission, with symptoms gone for weeks or even disappearing.
The cause of MS is unknown, but it has a wide variety of symptoms. Attacks are most frequent 3 to 4 years after they begin. The first attack, sometimes too mild to be remembered, most commonly happens between the ages of 20 and 40 years.
